Order the six-stage analysis workflow

Arrange the stages in the course's repeatable business-analysis workflow.

Repeatable method

Six stages connect the decision to a defensible explanation

  1. AskClarify the stakeholder and decision.
  2. DefineLock the question, population, grain, and metric.
  3. InspectCheck whether the data is fit for the question.
  4. AnalyzeCalculate and compare with documented rules.
  5. ValidateReconcile results and test weak assumptions.
  6. ExplainState the finding, limitation, and next action.

Each stage has a different job. Skipping Define or Validate can make a polished result unreliable.

Arrange in the correct order
  1. 1. Explain — state the finding, limitation, and next step
  2. 2. Validate — reconcile and challenge results
  3. 3. Analyze — calculate and compare
  4. 4. Inspect — check whether the data is fit
  5. 5. Define — lock the question, population, grain, and metric
  6. 6. Ask — clarify the stakeholder and decision
